Trust – the fundamental flaw of Purplebricks

Even if you didn’t watch it, you will have undoubtedly heard about it by now.

The recent BBC Watchdog investigation of Purplebricks has hit the headlines, and that’s mainly because, rather than the industry complaining, it’s the general public who have had their say.

A recent piece of research from Rightmove states that over 95% of sellers would instruct an agent based on trust and it is undoubtedly at the heart of our industry. Purplebricks, in general terms, is representing the online agency model, and significantly falling short on the ability of a vendor to place such faith in them.

You can’t buy trust, not even with the bank balance and marketing budget of such online industry drivers. Trust must be earned. We are in the service industry, dealing with and advising on the most important asset in most people’s lives, and as such we work extremely hard to gain such a reputation.
