Corbridge - Houses, Property and Homes to Rent and Buy

Corbridge has plenty to offer the prospective house or home buyer and also has some great rental properties on offer, Sanderson Young will be happy to help you find your ideal house to buy or home to rent. Corbridge is perhaps the best known Tyne Valley village and its enduring popularity is due to three factors. Firstly, Corbridge has a picturesque location occupying a raised riverside site with lovely views, and secondly the village has excellent access to Newcastle (approx 16 miles) by road or rail.

Houses, Homes and Properties for sale or rent within the Corbridge Area

The third factor that keeps Corbridge top of Tyne Valley house hunters' wish lists is the booming village centre featuring a superb range of shops, pubs and restaurants. In recent years Corbridge has seen the arrival of an award winning deli, a designer jeweller, several art and interiors galleries, an Orvis fishing tackle outlet and a number of ladies and gents outfitters. These speciality stores sit comfortably beside established shops that include an old fashioned butchers, bakers, chemist and post office.

The extraordinary eclectic range of retail outlets in a small village attracts a growing number of visitors to Corbridge and the queues of window shoppers are longest outside the estate agents.

Corbridge is blessed with some truly gorgeous property. Its oldest house (not counting the fortified 'pele' tower in the churchyard), is Elizabethan with the majority of the village centre's period properties built as Georgian merged into Victorian England. A 19th century double bedroom terraced cottage costs around £150,000 whilst at the other end of the scale a country house on the outskirts of the village, with a small sporting estate and fishing rights on the Tyne, recently fetched over £2 million.

That said, the village is no architectural museum; Glebelands is an estate of modern properties (priced around £250,000) on the road to Corbridge's Roman Fort whilst brand new developments, such as The Chains (houses and apartments from £189,000 to £419,000) and Lion Court (apartments around £275,000) have updated the village's housing stock. Such quality developments will ensure Corbridge remains a prosperous, mixed community well into the 21st Century.
