Sanderson Young - In The Community - Website Charities
Sanderson Young is very proud to assist and support many worthwhile causes throughout the North East and is confident that it is helping sustain many communities with long term futures.
Besides helping developers regenerate our housing stock and in particular the city centres, Sanderson Young continues to support many public initiatives. Newcastle City Council’s roundabouts ‘In Bloom’ campaign has been supported by Sanderson Young for many years, as well as a wide range of charities and leisure organisations that breathe life into our communities. Duncan Young, the Managing Director, commented:
“We are delighted to support many charitable fund raising events, with nearly £130,000 invested in sponsorship, gifts, donations and promotions.
Our recent donations include grants to young people participating in The Prince of Wales Awards, The Daisy Appeal, The Percy Hedley Foundation, Fairbridge, The Sunshine Fund, Great Ormond Street, as well as North Northumberland, St. Oswald’s Hospices and the Artists Network. One of the most satisfying events we supported was the St. Oswald’s Voices for Hospices campaign, where we helped to raise over £40,000 for this truly vital service.”
Landmark new buildings like Baltic Gallery and The Sage Music Centre have established the North East as an international arts destination and again, Sanderson Young is delighted to support our region’s cultural projects. The Hatton Gallery, Friends of Music at All Saints Church, The Theatre Royal, Gosforth Trinity Musical Society and the campaign to return the Lindisfarne Gospels to the North East for exhibition, have all received substantial support. The return of the Lindisfarne Gospels was a major sponsorship for the company and generated record levels of visitors during the exhibition.
The North East’s passion for The Magpies, Black Cats and Falcons is legendary, but there is much more to our sporting life than premiership football or rugby. Sanderson Young helps keep our smaller sports clubs in the field, with donations to Northern Football Club, South Northumberland Cricket Club, Northumberland Tennis Club, Gosforth Squash Club, Northumberland Golf Club, Novocastrians Rugby Club and South Northumberland Football Club.
Last but by no means least; Sanderson Young invest in the future our children, with grants to the Northumberland Scouts Council, as well as support of many of our local schools at Dame Allan's, King’s School Tynemouth, Central High School, Royal Grammar School, Newcastle School for Boys, Westfield School and the Language School at Newcastle University.
Even recent assistance with the Restoration Appeal for Warkworth Parish Church was supported by our Media Department, who put together a very fine magazine for the parish. Duncan Young commented:
“As a company, we believe that business has a responsibility to support the unsung volunteers who keep our communities alive. Such people give us much more than they receive and we at Sanderson Young feel privileged to be able to help them in their work.”
